Early Childhood Educator for our French classrooms

Job Description
The International School of Charlottesville seeks a French-speaking classroom teacher for our multilingual, multicultural language-immersion school, serving children from the time they are toddlers until they have graduated from Kindergarten. The French teacher will be responsible for designing an engaging and pedagogically-strong curriculum, and then guiding learning in fluent French, to a classroom of 2, 3 and/or 4 year-olds.  A strong candidate for this position will have experience and educational background in early childhood education, curriculum, and learning, along with the ability and willingness to teach collaboratively with a co-teacher or assistant teacher.  Benefits of this job include the chance to work with a vivacious, talented, committed, and international team of colleagues; in a progressive and growing school; for a collaboratively-minded Head of School; and during hours that are family-friendly. Fluency in spoken French is required.

To apply
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, a one-page Philosophy of Education statement, and contact information for at least three professional references.  References will be contacted only if the candidate is being considered as a semi-finalist, and no earlier than April 1st.  Application materials and/or any questions or concerns can be sent to ISC’s Head of School, Eric Anderson, at This email address is being protected from spambots. Substitute Teachers

We are always looking for substitute teachers to help out with our various programs.  Foreign language fluency is not required, but knowledge of French and/or Spanish is a plus.  Applicants should have at least one semester (or equivilent) of training in Early Childhood Education and some experience working with young children, preferably in a group setting.

Teaching Interns

When possible, we welcome volunteers from UVA and other area schools as interns in our classrooms.  Interns should apply directly to our Head of School.  Because classroom volunteers are required to meet a strict set of standards, training, and background checks before working with our young children, we ask that only those willing and able to make a regular commitment apply for a teaching internship at the ISC.

Extracurricular Teachers and Programs

The ISC is expanding it's afternoon programs to provide meaningful artistic, athletic, musical, and language-focused opportunities for our young students.  If you teach or coach young children and would like to explore a partnership with the ISC, please contact the Head of School.
