Extra Care

Our Afternoon teachers are a fun, experienced group who are committed to providing a nurturing, enriching environment for the children who stay at school for the full day.  Families who will regularly use afternoon care are encouraged to sign up with their enrollment contract to guarantee a space for the child and so that teachers can plan their programs accordingly.  Yearly rates for Extra Care reflect a significant discount off of the daily rate.

If you do not need regular afternoon care, you can sign up on a "drop-in" basis as space allows.  Check the sign up sheets outside of the Main Office to see if there is space in your child's class.  Drop-in sign up sheets are updated weekly.

Toddlers and Preschoolers have a nap or quiet time following the morning school day and lunch.  At about 3:00 pm, some children go home while others transition to their afternoon group with a parent-provided snack.  The afternoons are filled with fun activities, art and music, and time to play outdoors on the playground.  Care is taken to offer age-appropriate experiences for all children in the afternoons.  Language development in French and Spanish continues in the afternoon, plus the children participate in large-group experiences that may include exposure to French, Spanish, and English for all students.

For the 2013-2014 school year, all afternoon students will participate in a variety of "specials" in addition to the regular activities provided by their afternoon teachers. The children will have African Dance, ORFF Music class with Ms. Mary, Woodworking, and more! These extracurricular activities are included with the afternoon program. Drop-in space is limited so please check in the office as far in advance as possible!
